What is Saffron?
Saffron is a spice derived from the flower of
the saffron crocus (Crocus Sativus), a species
of crocus in the family Iridaceae. The flower's
three stigmas (the distal ends of the plant's
carpel’s, or female reproductive organs) and
parts of its style (a stalk connecting the
stigmas to the rest of the plant) are often
dried and used in cooking as a seasoning and
coloring agent. Saffron, has, for decades, been
the world's most expensive spice by weight. To

Why is saffron so expensive?
Saffron is known to be expensive, but it is
really not so expensive considering how little
of it is used at one time. An ounce of Saffron
can be divided into 670 portions; the cost per
portion may be as little as 5 cents using the
purest form of it which we farm and vender.
Since our saffron is farmed and harvested with
highest standard, we recommend that you use 1/3
to 1/2 less of our saffron than recommended by
most recipes.
What part of the world does Saffron come from?
Iran by far produces the most of the world’s
saffron both in terms of the quantity and the
quality.
Iranian Saffron farmers for years have been
known to the world market for their excellent
production. Sadly, however, in the hand of the
profiteers and middlemen, saffron from different
part of the world is mixed to maximize the
profit in the world’s market. Lower price rules
and the quality take a back seat. One can easily
notice the lower quality and additives by
opening a sample of inferior saffron and
realizing the mixture of red, yellow and white
material style left attached to the stigma or
the yellow coloring additive. You may also
notice a musty smell and spongy texture due to
excess moisture. On the other hand, we farm,
produce and package our own saffron within our
own cooperative establishment for the
consumption among natives at a standard
acceptable to those very familiar with saffron
and understand it. You will only find stigma
(threads) in our saffron. Order once and see for
yourself. See pictures below.
What are some other countries that produce
saffron?
Greece,
Morocco, India, Spain and Italy are among other
countries which produce saffron to smaller
quantity in exact order.
Where our saffron come from?
Our Saffron is grown in several states in Iran.
Our expert farmers cut out all the impurities
(style) according to our country specifications;
this means, in other words, that the consumer
enjoys pure saffron (stigma) on their cooking
counter.
